A very quick stopover in Sydney

As Toby has already seen most parts of Australia, we decided to keep our visit in Australia as short as possible. Hence we decided to just stay 3 days in this beautiful city and made the most out of it.

Arriving in Sydney, the first thing we noticed and fully enjoyed was the cold breeze going through the city. It was winter and after spending almost 3 months in countries where 40 degrees was more of a rule than an exception, the first thing we did was enjoying the cold air in our lungs and on our skin. It felt so good. We realised how underrated cold air was… ;-) Luckily we also had fantastic weather throughout our visit which made our stay much more enjoyable.

We checked in our hostel and headed straight to the Opera House, The Rocks and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. We finished our day with the obligatory sunset over the Sydney Opera House. What a view.

The next day (our last day already as we left the next day in the early afternoon), we decided to walk the iconic cost walk from Bondi to Coogee Beach in the early morning. We couldn’t have enjoyed the cold breeze and the blue sky more.
At this point we realized that we now definitely have left South East Asia. No more bargaining, people running with dogs and smartphones trying to keep in shape, men in suits and everyone spoke english – we kind of had a culture clash.
However, arriving in Coogee Bay, we went for lunch break to the obligatory Coogee Bay Hotel and had some wonderful Fish & Chips and a Fat Yak Beer.

In the afternoon we visited Manly Beach. The boat ride from Circular Key to Manly is definitely one of the most beautiful things to do. As there was still a strong wind going, many sailboats made the scenery from the boat even more enjoyable.

Our day wasn’t over yet as we wanted to see the Sydney skyline from the other side of the Harbour Bridge. We were both tired but the view was worth the effort.

The following day already, we left Australia into the even deeper winter in New Zealand. We had no idea what to expect. We can tell you already: we suffered from the cold, but it was worth the pain…

But until then, so long…
